The #20 Junior was billed as the "Queen of the Cold Blasts," and is the 3/4 version of the #80 Blizzard, both of which were first introduced by Dietz in 1898, the pattern however was first produced as the Gem Cold Blast by the C. T. Ham Company in 1887. This lantern has possibly become the most popular, it is certainly the most often imitated. The rising cone makes for easy lighting and wick trimming.

The Dietz Junior
This lantern is constructed in such a easy way,
That lighting it and filling it, is done without delay.
For general use it's unsurpassed, it is the family friend-
If you've no use for one yourself, then keep one just to lend.
And now the way the globe is raised I'm sure seems very clever-
You merely reach on side of tube, and push down a little lever.
The farmer whistles 'round his barn, he has no fear of night-
For with the "Junior" by his side, his way seems fair and bright.
So place your order here right now,
this you won't regret-
And know the pride of ownership each evening at sunset.
